I have 2 saltwater tanks, a fluval evo13.5 gallon and a fluval flex 32.5 gallon. A couple of days ago i went to feed the 13.5 and used the qrong end of the opening on the feeding device. Basically dumped half of the food in the tank. Lots of food in the tank Basically. Immediately tried to use a water change tube and get as much out as i can. Fast forward 2 days later and my tank is cloudy and smells bad. I moved the only fish i had in the tank to the big tank, aka 2 regular clownfish, had to put them in a mesh breader box because rhe other clowns i had were picking on them. Tested levels on the small tank and ammonia is very high. Did a water change and tank is still cloudy and smelly. What should i do ? Yes i know i screwed up and am smoewhat new to the hobby. Should i do a 60 percont water change, or just keep doing 25 percent till i get it fixed ? And are the clowns gona be ok in the mesh breader box till i get it fixed enough to move them back?

Do a rip clean. Pull sand rock and rinse well. It's a small tank. Than add some bacteria to combat the ammonia. Seachem alert badge would be a good idea.

I would do a 100 or 90 percent, there will be enough residual ammonia for the bacteria and will get you back to baseline without cranking up you bacteria population and having them die off later.

Been there...
If the 13.5 tank is now void of livestock, the larger the water change the better. Try to vacuum out as much detritus and left over food as possible. If you still have livestock still in the tank, and it is still alive, then keep water changes to 50% to 60%
