Toucan Zoa

I agree, one of the nicest I've seen in awhile! Great score and if anyone is fragging these, plese put me down for one.

Updated pic from today, unfortunately the camera just doesn't capture the colors of this zoa worth a ****.

Not even a zoa guy but.... WANT! LOL Kray, you know deep inside your a closet zoa lover... J/K.
But seriously nice polyp. I'll add that to my to get list in the future.

Well, I guess it remains to be seen how fast these guys grow... Will definitely be sharing once I get a decent sized colony and will need someone to take one as a backup...

I'll be interested to see how the colors hold up on these guys over the next couple months. I was very tempted to get that polyp, but I decided to wait it out and see how it did. They remind me a lot of my deepwater Fruitloops zoas when they first came in. While keeping them in low light under PC's, they looked very similar, but I was getting very little growth. I moved them into a tank with T-5's which was better lit, but the opalescent orange in the center faded quite a bit. It still shows in random polyps, mostly those getting indirect light. When I got mine, they were orginally totally prismatic orange in the middle and the rings were more green than yellow. The first two below pics are them under 50/50 PC's, and the second is what they look like now.

I haven't seen any other pics of fruitloops looking that green or keeping the orange in the middle, so my impression is that it has faded on everyone with time.

It does look like the orange in the center is starting to darken a little bit, but not much. I currently have it on a frag rack about 18" from my 150w MH and 2 x T5.

Finally got a baby! It's starting to get nice and orange around the edge of the skirts and the mouth. Camera is a point of sale unfortunately.

Not at all. In fact I was impressed by the pic. If these tend to be hardy, color stable and atleast medium speed reproducers/growers, my bet is that they are going to quickly become one of the most sought after additions we've seen since the crazy Hornet craze. You're a lucky man to have one and I appreciate you keeping the thread updated with progress.

when i first saw the toucan zoa..it reminds me of fruitloops...

I will post pictures of the toucans next to the fruitloops. They do not look much alike side by side. The fruit loops have an orange skirt while the toucans have more of a redish skirt. The fruit loops also only have a green ring while the fruitloops have a more solid green fill. Kept in low light they will keep te red center. Pictures tomorrow.

Please keep in mind my frag is in moderate lighting and flow for now and looks the same as the day it arrived. Regardless of the name or price it's an amazing zoa that will look great in my reef once grown out and I look forward to sharing with the community.

Ok here you can see the toucans on the left and how different they look compared to the more common fruitloops on the right.
