Hello, I was wondering if there is an complete guide on the forum about trace elements and color relevant macro nutrients about why they do get dosed and what they do for the corals? Also why does fauna Marin recommend me to dose zinc and Copper? The test says it's not in the water and I should dose it :/? It I've seen some posts about potassium and boron etc but I was wondering if there is a full guide for this?

Thnx

I do not believe any of the claims that specific element dosing leads to specific colors.

It is definitely true that photosynthetic organisms need a wide array of trace elements to grow, including copper and zinc.

What exactly is beneficial to dose in your system will depend entirely on what is already present in the water from foods and other sources.

Testing by ICP can help, but is not definitive. Trial and error supplementation can be the best way to know what is useful and what is not.

I recently did a icp and this are the results. The only thing I consider dosing from this Icp is iodine Fe and molybdenum since the others are non important metals to me..?
Also when I purchase all these metal supplements it will cost me a lot of money:/

the easiest and cheapest, if not perfect option, is to try a commercial trace element mixture and see if anything changes after using it for a week or two.

I dose ATI essentials pro in my tank, this should already be with the trace elements mixture right? And is my activated carbon able to absorb heavy metals?

Like triton, ati does have trace elements within those bottles

Yes I know, but the question is if I should bring the metals up in my tank? Or would that be nonsense?

I also found on the ati site information for all trace elements with what they do:)

I would not increase metals much or at all. Certain metals such as zinc ,etc are within salt mixes.

Ok, but I don't do water changes anymore. I'm full ATI EP. You can use this without water changes. So I'm using icp for testing, the faune Marin was a free test

I was the same with triton method. Ive installed a ca reactor and also to tropic marin salt so don’t use elements any longer

I don’t think GAC is a big sink relative to other sinks in the tank. Mist trace metals bind to organics and many organics bind to GAC, so some may get exported, as it does from skimming and other methods of organic removal.
