Can anybody shed some light on trace elements I'm thinking of starting to dose them between water changes.
Is NaCl free mineral salt the same as pro coral mineral by Tropic Marin.
One is used in the third part of the balling method to keep the ionic balance, the other claims to contain all 70 trace elements found in sea salt and is used as a trace element supplement.
I'm confused surely they contain the same ingredients????
Many thanks justin

Sodium chloride free salt for Balling type recipes is not a good supplement for trace elements. It is mostly major ions like magnesium, sulfate, and potassium.

use a product that claims to be a trace element supplement.

In your opinion is the addition of trace elements worth doing if you do infrequent water changes.
Surely they get used up fairly quickly in a reef tank with fast growing sps.
Or are they abundant ie in the food we add and balling salts?
Many thanks justin.

I certainly think it is worth experimenting with.

This from A.F. may help you understand.

HOW REEF MINERAL SALT WORKS?

Cheers for that! I do use the AF mineral salt, but am concerned that my trace elements are getting depleted between water changes so I'm looking for the best product to use?

IF YOU HAD TO TAKE A REEFING EXAM, WOULD YOU PASS?
