How important is this? I've never added to my system. I only do biweekly water changes with reef crystals and dose brightwell aquatics Ca KH and Mag. If I start dosing trace elements am I going to see a big change?

How much dosing are you doing? What kind of corals do you have in your tank? If your tank is consuming lots of alkalinity and calcium, then chances are your trace elements are being consumed at a fast rate and water changes alone might not replenish them quick enough. Some corals need these trace elements more than others for growth and color (particularly SPS), while others don't so much. You could increase your water changes to weekly to replenish the trace elements more frequently. You could also do an ICP test to see where your trace elements are at and dose for specific elements that are low.
