Hey guys.
I have this trachy and when I got it, it was doing very well and slowly declining.
I moved it from direct light to a shaded area and did not help.
It doesn’t feed much but the mouth looks fine.
My parameter are all good. Only chemistry related thing I could think of is minor alk swings when I dose. Usually from like 8.1 to 8.5dKH.
Any suggestions on what to do or look for?

Looks quite healthy and hungry. I feed mine Mysis shrimp 2X per week. Assure nitrate and phos as well as salinity does not become elevated

I had a acanthophyllia that slowly bleached because of the direct evening sun. I couldnt stop the bleaching even after putting it in the shade, but I kept feeding once every 3 days, 6 month later the color came back and it looks normal again. Took a really long time though.

Do you have nitrate and phosphate numbers? How about the par the coral is under?
only thing I dont have is par. BUT i know my Par is low. I checked a month ago and my sandbed was at like 50 and i raised my setting all by 10% total over the last month

Good tip, ill have to make sure it doesnt get sunlight.
Thanks

nitrate at 30 usually and phophate at .08
both a little elevated. Phos range is .04-.08 up to one and nitrate <15. Pellets not an ideal food for this coral.
Moderate light and water flow as too much light can upset them and cause them to expel their energy source known as Zooxanthellae. Temp range 76-79 and ph 8.1-8.3 and calcium no higher than 475

Sadly, Australia has colder water trachyphyllia. Do you know where this one was collected?

How is water flow around it?

How often is the goby spitting sand on the coral?

They’re LPS pellets and the other trachys and acans love them. I’ll stop using tho just to rule it out

I’ve had it for a month and I couldn’t tell you par reading. I got them online
I know there's a thousand questions. It only takes one thing to cause issues. Hows the water flow?

Also, less light would cause more issues. They can do well above 75 par.

Some are picky. I have one that is very sensitive to flow. My newest came in very sensitive to light. I had to do a 10 day light acclimation. Two of mine are pigs, I haven’t seen the other eat in a couple years.
Flow issues usually just cause them to not open. My quess would be light or Alk.
