trachyphyllia Not looking good

I’ve had this trachy for over a year now and it has been doing great. However randomly yesterday it deflated and looked really odd where sections where inflated and others deflated. Now it looks all shriveld. There is another thrachy in the tank wich is also not looking good but everything else is fine in the tank. There is a hair algae problem in the tank but that is not new and the water parameters are the same they normally are but I did a large water change anyways. I also spot fed it. The only things that have changed is that there are some new corals in the tank but none can reach the trachys and one of the lights has been flickering a bit. Any idea what could be going on?

They are kinda moody. Mine inflates huge and eats like a pig half of the year and stays small and won’t eat at all the other half. I’m still not sure what that’s about.

They are moody for sure.. But if you have a GHA outbreak I would look at NO3 and PO4. If the GHA is making these bottom out then develop a plan.

They are a PITA lol. I actually will no longer buy them because of this. I had one just crap out on me after being in my system for almost 2 years. It was placed right next to my other 3 who are doing fine. One morning 1/4 of it was just skeleton, each day it lost more and more. They are really beautiful but just not reliable. When mine would shrivel up for more than a few hours, it's because my no3 was below 5.

It seems it was just hungry. I spot fed it the past couple of days and now it looks perfectly happy. It’s really strange though I’ve never seen it do that before. Thanks for the suggestions.

My trach.. was out in full bloom for months.. starting 3 days ago he stopped opening.. losing flesh.. the only thing we changed was added a second power head to get a circular flow.. is there any chance that could kill it? Only other thing I can think of is my bubble coral’s stingers are not being blown across it..

Can just a change in flow .. kill a trachy?

Well a lesson learned.. do not move a dressed coral unless you have to.. my beautiful trachy died last night I moved it to try and help it.. this morning the flesh was on opposite side of the tank from its skeleton.. my night time crew may have finished it off but I had to pull it out.. this was a special coral as it was 1 of 3 have had since the first day we could add corals.. he was a baby frag then
