Do you get uptight when things take a little longer than expected?

  • Nope, not at all, I would rather things go smoothly.

After reading a thread in the feedback forum I've decided to make this thread, but only for discussion purposes, no other intentions.

When you do a trade or buy something from someone, and their frags aren't ready or they have a busy week and can't ship it that week, do you get at all agitated or upset? What about if they can't ship it the week after? I have patiently waited for a month to get a frag pack after paying for it and you know what, I wasn't at all upset about it.

I realize that people have a life and aren't just doing this for a living (in most cases...if I were buying from a reputable vendor that DID do this for a living it might be a different story unless they had a legitimate reason) and so sometimes things come up.

I would much rather receive a healthy and well-packaged frag than one that is freshly cut (like the night before) with sloppy packaging, even if that means waiting a while. I've talked with some people that I've done deals with and if things take a bit longer than expected they always thank me and say that other people would've hassled them or been mad.

So, what do you do when things take longer than expected?

Please keep in mind that in my eyes this is not the same as when you pay someone and then don't hear from them for a while and you still haven't gotten your stuff.

as long as the communication is there, i'm satisfied.

I would say no if i know the person. Anxious if I don't know the person. If it's a store, I want it a few days later. :)

That's about how I am Rev, but if I haven't dealt with the person myself but have read feedback or they keep in contact then I'm pretty cool with it.

A little different but along the same line. A few months ago I agreed to go in on a group buy with somebody. Paid up and still haven't seen the corals from the group buy. ;)

No issues here because that person promised to send me anything in their tank I wanted.

LOLOLOL!!! OMG! Dude your my favorite I swear!

Having been a person who has taken a long time to get frags out as well as a person who has waited a long time for frags, I know how life gets busy so as long as the person keeps me informed of what's going on I would rather wait then rush someone. Even with a vendor, if I know they are cutting a frag of something for me, I would rather they take their time and let the frag heal then have them rush it off to me with the shipping stress possibly killing the corals.

it also depends on who initiates the transaction. If you are listing or selling, I think, the frags should be healed and ready to ship within a week of paying, and should be dependent on the receivers schedule not the seller. If it is a spur of the moment thing, then I think the buyer has to be more patient and understand that a healed frag ALLWAYS ships better than a newly cut frag. Personally I am not a huge fan of selling on the fly because someone can tell you that they want to buy a frag of one of your favorite corals, so you frag it and when they change their mind or "run out of $$" you have a big chunk missing out of a coral you really like.

I voted nope.....As long as we talk about it and get updates I don't sweat it much.....I have a trade I have been needing to replace for quite a few months and still haven't done it yet. But the colony I was had to frag, I have almost lost 3 times in that time period and almost again this past week due to a rock slide. I have communicated with the said person many times to let them know the situation and they have been very gracious about it.......I think communication is the key role. If there is money involved then I think that takes it to a whole new level as well......JMHO.

Same here, As long as the guy is upfront with Emails and LMK what's going on I'm cool with it.

What sucks is when you buy it and they say OK, and then call you back and say they need to substitute. Why try to sell it or accept my money if you don't have it? I know of alot of dealers that pull the bait and switch and most of them tell you they substituted with a note in the box so you don't know until you get your frags.
