Hey, so i was thinking of upgrading my 20gal to a 40 gal, and was wondering what the best & most efficient method is of transfering one tank to another, and what your experiences were. My main concern is the sand. My sand bed is pretty well established with plenty of life and critters. Im afraid if i were to siphon all the sand out first and put it in the new tank it will disrupt the natural balance and i might get a significant dieoff of stuff right off the bat as the sand will get completely mixed around. If that is the case how long should i wait for the sand to establish itself again before i move my corals, rocks, and fish?

Or will the sand be completely fine, and im just overthinking it?

Thanks guys!

By moving the Sand you could cause a poison to release I would start with new sand.

Thanks. Could i rinse the old sand to release alot of the gunk, and add it in. At least some of the bacteria should survive?
