Hi all

So I am in the process of getting a 75 gal up and running. What I’m thinking about doing is emptying my 30 gallon tank including live rock, coral, and sand into the new 75 gallon tank. I would then add new rodi water to top it off. I would also add more rock and sand.

I currently have a clown, flame angle, and fire fish in the 30 that would also be transferred over. My concern is a mini cycle occurring due to the rock and sand being added. Thoughts?

Are you adding live rock or dry rock?

I’d like to add dry rock but if it’s going to cause a cycle then live rock

IF you cure the dry rock in a becket of saltwater, heater, and powerhead, you can just put it over together. That is what my friend did twice as he upgraded, but it wouldn't hurt to cycle the new tank with the dry rock after it is cured.
