Transferring corals to new tank

Planning to upgrade from a 37g to rsr 250 in the next couple months. I’m not planning to use any of my current rock or sand, instead going with life rock and doing a full cycle. How do I extract corals like acans that’s grown onto the rock? Do I need to cut out around the acan and other corals and add The entire piece (rock and coral) new tank or pop the coral off using a flathead screwdriver?
 
I would suggest a bit of both. Use a nice heavy gage razor that will allow you to carve into rock, even use a hammer to slightly tap on the back of the blade so it penetrates deep into the rock. Once you've done that around the entire base, use a flat head and hammer to gently chisel off the coral.
