Hey fellow reefers,

I got back from my vacation to find a few patches of Bryopsis, here and there. Including in some hard to reach places. So, I need to do a fluconazole treatment, again...arrggghhhh! I’ve done this before, but the kicker is my Chaeto refugium. I’ve learned the hard way that fluconazole kills Chaeto. It looks like I need to treat for Bryopsis one to two times a year, according to my records.

In the past, I would discard the Chaeto, do the Fluconazole, and the play catch-up with the nutrient surge. Meanwhile my SPS become very unhappy, while I titrate up the NOPOX. Then I replace the the Chaeto, and wind down the NOPOX. I am so done with this cycle!

So, I am quitting a macro algae refugium, and returning to easy, adjustable DIY NOPOX.

I know the ultimate dose of NOPOX for my system. My question is how fast can I ramp the dose, when I pull the Chaeto and add the fluconazole?

Your input is greatly appreciated!

I think you can ramp it up quite a bit faster than most of the tables recommend. Have to watch for bacterial blooms which I had less of with straight vinegar than I did with NoPox . How much faster, I can't say just watch you tank and follow your NO3 levels closely.
