I've been using tap in my reef with water conditioner and carbon but made the jump to RODI I will be setting this up tomorrow with a 10% water change after. Do I need to make the adjustment slowly and when should I see benefits starting to take place with the new RODI unit ?

Not much else to do. You don't have to limit it to 10% either if you have the capacity to make more. Try not to make any other changes for about a month so you can make a direct link between improvements and the improved water quality.

Remember to dump the first few gallons you make to be sure the membrane is fully saturated with water. Check the membrane manufacturer's recommendations, I think DOW suggests 24 hours break in for full break in but you should be seeing useable water after about 5 gallons.

Don't forget to dump and wipe down out your ATO if you have and fill it with nice clean RODI water!

Can't think of any reason you need to go slowly. As far how long or if you see benefits, it's impossible to say. All tap water is not created equal. :D

Just keep up good husbandry and be consistent.

Dont forget to run the system a while before using water. What benefits are you hoping to see? Are you currently having issues?
Cheers! Mark
more or less just a cleaner system and maybe some better coloration on corals

Great question and great suggestions above. I flushed first five gallons when I first started my new RODI system. If 10% is your regular change then go with it. But I don't think there's really anything else you need to do or worry about phasing it in. The good news is that your water starts a bit more pure since it's RODI and you no longer need water conditioner or carbon.

One other suggestion. Keep some fresh RODI for topping off your tank due to evaporation.
