What would cause my peppermint shrimp to become translucent?

I think what you’re seeing is the molt. Look around your reef and you’ll most likely find your shrimp tucked away somewhere while it’s new shell toughens up.

I hope so. I feel like we've become buds. Lol. But yeah, I did try to find him. He didn't come out to eat either. That's when I noticed that thing sitting there, which is now gone.

Haha! It’s crazy sometimes how much the molt looks just like the shrimp. It’s fooled me more than once. Mine usually molt right after a water change because of the renewed iodine levels in the salt mix.
