Can anyone see the mass well enough to tell me what it might be?

The mass is on the lower edge of the tail fin. It was not easy getting the picture because the tang just wouldn’t hold still . I first noticed the mass today. Behavior is fine and eating fine. I don’t see anything on the other fish.

TIA!

Can’t really see it very well, but sounds like lympho, if so it’s caused by a virus and the fish will recover on its own with high water quality and a good diet

I know, it was tough to get a good pic.

Lympho is short for what?

I don't think it is Lymphocystis (a viral disease). The picture isn't super clear, but Lymphocystis is grey and more angular in texture. It is often on the edges of fins, and tangs don't get it very often.

If you can't get a clear photo, maybe a short video would work?

I have a video but am not having success uploading it. I’ll keep trying.
YouTube works well.
I’ve seen similar spots on tangs- it’s smooth and under the skin? I just ignore those…

It is external. It’s easier to see in the video. I’ll try YouTube
I could just get a split second of a clear view at the end of the video - I still don’t think it is Lymphocystis, but it *might* be just starting up. If it looks more angular in person, and not smooth, then it could be that . Either way, I don’t see a need to treat for anything - the fish looks really good in all other respects.

Just to update, the mass has at least dissipated the point of not being visible. I don’t know that anything I’ve done is responsible, but I’ve been feeding Nori, seaweed extreme (Hikari) small granules, frozen brine with spirulina, and sometimes frozen fish eggs. The tang goes after all of it. Over the last week I’ve been putting a drop or two of vitachem on the nori and brine, but as I said, I don’t know if that had an affect.
