Hey R2R -

Below average reefer here getting back into the hobby : ) . Found a deal on a tank, would love your advice / what you would do:

It's a 55 gallon thank with sump and stand. They literally have 1olbs of live rock and two fish the LFS that said they would take. I don't want the stress of dealing with pretty livestock.

Can I be lazy and just fit it in my SUV empty / Just keep one bucket of water to help start the system? (I promise ill measure but has anyone transported this size of tank in a larger SUV? (Chevy Tahoe / Ford Explorer XLT / Jeep) Or speak from experience? Do I rent a van / save the water and live rock? Oh gez I just notice it has a chaeto / a Refugium. What should I do to successfully transport this?

Obviously I want to have my cake and eat it too...ha easy work and save the good ecosystem. Thanks for the advice, Sean

Thank you! Ya I guess I want to know wants the smallest amount of water possible I can move while at the same time save the chaeto / save the bacteria. Side note - I enjoy your Predator tank post!

Thank you!
You probally only need enough water to keep the rocks covered. You can see it as a big water change. People ship chaeto in bags so should be safe to assume you can put it im the bin with the rock for transport. A cooler might work too, I picked up live rock 40 min from home with that. Read that this was good way to transport liverock as long as you can keep that water warmish.
