Hi All

I’m buying a redsea reefer 525 from a member here.

I am looking on transport tips for the stand sump and tank.

the tank has bulkheads on the bottom so will not lay flat on the base.

my original idea was to put the stand and tank together and strap it down so it don’t move. I’m not sure if that’s possible in a uhaul or enterprise van.

So please any transport tips are appreciated

Put the tank on a blanket on either the front or back panel. I personally would not transport the tank on the stand.

You are correct about the exterior bulkheads. You could rest the tank on some 2X4s though to keep the bulkheads suspended.

Pull the doors off to reduce weight. Sump out obviously. A couple of four wheel dollies are helpful.

Depending on how many people you have to move it, consider glass moving suction cups. The more people you have the better, but I think I had three of us for my 525.

I have a Redsea 525 and they shipped it with the tank sitting on a 2 inch sheet of styrofoam. The bulkheads could sink into the styrofoam and support the tank. Seemed to work well.

If we go the 2x4 route what sort of shape if sufficient. 2 length ways and 2 horrizonital? With a sheet over the wood?

That shape should do it. You don't have to worry too much about being perfect about resting the tank when empty. You only need to worry about being perfect once you put 800 lbs of water in it. These things are strong. During moves, the primary risk is chipping the corners.
