I used the search and couldn't find exactly what I am looking for...couldn't even really determine the best place to post this.

I am talking with a tank builder about a new build. As it turns out they are somewhat close (WI)to where my family lives (IL) and we will be visiting over Christmas. I am entertaining the idea of just picking up the tank while we are up there and bringing it back to TX rather than shipping it.

How concerned do I need to be about the cold weather? Is it safe to transport it in the bed of the truck? Uhaul trailer? or am I being overly paranoid? I definitely wouldn't fill it until it's had a chance to warm up...just trying to figure out the "best" way to go about it. I definitely save on shipping if I pick it up.

When my wife and i moved from central Pa to western ohio (500 miles) i had to pack my tanks into a uhaul, over night the end of december, they were in just over a day. I was really nervous, but the tanks were fine.

Yeah, I was thinking of just getting a UHAul trailer to get it home...it'll be cold, but at least it would be out of the elements.
