Hi All,

I’m wondering if anyone has had success transporting fish 2-3 hours and what you did to have success. I’ve read buckets but then I’m wondering about temperature... If I do, I’m leaning towards bag with extra water and an insulated lunch bag for temp. I’ll be traveling for the holiday for a couple of days and there is a great LFS in my home town that always had very healthy fish.

Thanks in advance,

Nate

Just tell the store what you're planning and they'll help you out. Maybe bring a cooler to try and keep the temp stable, but 2-3 hours is nbd.

All my fish arrived in either overnight shipping or a 2 hour car ride. Sometimes times I buy fish, go to dinner, and then drive home so 4-5 hours no problem. Just seal them in a bag of water and keep the temp stable. I bring a cooler and a couple water bottles. If it’s cold outside I put warm water (not hot) in the bottles. If it’s hot I put cool water. Then I put the bottles on top of the bags of fish. So the water bottle is only touching the air part of the bagged fish. A little cooler than normal is no problem but a little warmer is worse on the fish so error on the lower side of the temp range.

Thank you!! That sounds like a great plan. I usually have my car pretty warm so I’ll fill some water bottles with warm water if I decide to get anything.
