Traveling with Frags

So I had to share this I'm constantly traveling weather for work or pleasure, and i can assure you that I will find a fish store. 60% of the time I will leave with at least 1 frag, I would always carry a styrofoam Box and ice packs. With a new addition to the family we have purchased many items for the baby and mom including pumps. Well here is were I have acquired my new frag cooler with the pump came this lovely frag sized cooler complete with ice pack. I gotta say the wife was a bit annoyed that it has became part of my travel pack but after a discussion about the little cooler or the styro the little cooler won. now if she was actually using it for milk I would at least wait until it was no longer in use but hey why not now its just setting in the cabinet right. Here is the cooler and i gotta say I love it.

Hahaha I have a 10 month old and we have the same cooler. Unfortunately now I can't afford picking up random frags.... Doh!

Man I like getting the ones that don't look so hot and possibly will die to try and bring them back. When you can that cooler is awesome. And congrats to you as well

Yea it happens but like I tell my wife I'm proud to be a reef-aholic, at least I'm not an alcoholic.
but do not tell your employer your a reef-aholic it gets mistaken for something else and you get sent to a room with a cup.

Nice Idea, I went to a reefapollosa in L.A. 2 years ago had about 13 corals in a nice shipping box
for carry on, well, TSA denied me my flight because the said the water was corrosive to the plane
if it spilled so long story short we cancelled the flight rented a car and drove 7 hours, I don't know
if that was just a line but I have not wanted to go to the shows since that experience sad.

See I've never had them tell me that but another thing I do is packed them in my check bag.

Sorry that absolutely stinks. You can always argue it's a live animal. There's an official policy on TSA's site regarding fish. But coral doesn't 100% = fish and TSA isn't going to let much go through now a days.

At the end of the day, it's easy to check the bag. Plenty of people do it. I do something similar to the OP and make it able to fit in my checked luggage. It was asked a few weeks ago on the MACNA forum: http://reef2reef.com/threads/frag-transport.255944/

Keep going to the reef shows! It's one of the best things in the hobby!

Does the water get too cold? On the crazy hot days of summer, it's probably OK. Have you thought about wrapping the pack in a towel; at least it won't come in direct contact with the containers - similar to how vendors pack corals with ice packs when overnighted.

@pugcrush It mainly depends on the weather and I'm fixing to try the steady packs I can't remember the name of them but they are supposed to keep a steady temp of around 74 to 78 degf.
