Treated Tap Water OK to cure Rock?

Hi is it ok to use treated tap water or do you need RODI to cure. Will mix either one with salt mix.

You're probably going to be fine just using tap water. I used nothing but tap water up until a couple of months ago and never had issues.

Are you using salt too or just freshwater? When I cure my rock, I use just tap water for a couple weeks and then switch over to salt for a week or so before adding to a tank. No need to really treat the tap water if you are simply curing to rid it of phosphates and such. If you want to be safe, just treat with simple freshwater treatment (cheap stuff).
When you switch to salt, then use normal saltwater (RO/DI or just treated tap and salt).
I have done this to rid rocks of algae growth, and build up of yuck. Just make sure to put in dark bucket and change water often.

Thanks it's dry rock It has been in a bucket of rodi salt for a month with heater and power head. I don't have my rodi running so wanted to see if there was a down side to just tap mixed salt,

chloramines would be the down side. it can kill bacteria. so it depends on where you are.
