I have had all my fish in QT for the last 12 days but I’m still seeing what looks like random specks of wavy film on them. One clown still has fast respiration but the angels / copperband / goby all look clean and normal respiration. The therapeutic level has been 1.87 (everyone with the exception of the one clown has handled it like champs).

I ran the 2 clowns through rally and the random dots appear to be gone and their respiration has normalized. They are now in a clean QT tank.

My question is do I run the rest of the fish through the rally bath and then return them to a clean tank or is it really just the chromis / clowns that are the targets?

Welcome to R2R! Though most commonly found on clowns, Brook can infect almost every fish. And or fish can also be carriers of the disease. I'd give them the bath. Big fan of RRR. Have you freshwater dipped any of the fish to check for flukes? Are you planning on prophylactically treating your fish with General Cure or Praziquantel & Metro for flukes & worms?

They’ve been through the whole gambit. Prazipro x 2, CP - which I wasn’t convinced solved everything, and 12 days of copper power. I do have general cure I could treat with with focus for internal worms, but I’m sort of in a wait and see on that. DT has been fallow for 82 days now, so I am itching to get them back in, but I want to be convinced everyone is clean.

Hmm. That really is a comprehensive treatment. Where did you get the CP from, out of curiosity? The only thing missing in that regimen is metro, which GC does contain. A picture of the affected clownfish would be worth a thousand words, too :)

I got the CP from Diamondback w/ a script.
I'll see about getting a good picture of the clown..

When you say run through metro, you mean directly to the water or added to the food w/ focus?

Directly to the water for brook. Mixing with food can be done for treating intestinal worms et al. if you have any reason to suspect that as well. I actually do both as a prophylaxis, but most would regard this as overkill.

Best of luck!

To treat brook with metro you'd dose it directly into the water. 1 level measure per 10g of water daily. If need be you can actually double that, depending on the sensitivity of the fish. I actually just had to do this a few weeks ago but ultimately ended up needing to use formalin.

While there's a risk of a bacterial bloom when mixing any meds, I've done copper with metro and copper with kanaplex more than once without a major bloom. Use a powerhead directed at the surface, let your hob filter "splash", and add a couple airstones to enhance aeration

Absolutely, aeration is always key!

Pretty good shot, I certainly know how hard it can be to get a photo!

Hmm...based on what I see that's not slam dunk brook for sure. Really looks more like ich (or flukes, but you didn't see any in dip). Let's get some more eyes on this for another opinion @Humblefish @4FordFamily @melypr1985 @HotRocks @Big G

If you have CP that was acquired with RX as mentioned above, I would proceed with that treatment. I suspect brook with it being a clown. Whatever you are dealing with is "early stage". CP will cover both brook and ich, also velvet. If no flukes were found after FW dip then you "should" be good to go. Could also follow CP treatment with praziquantel (prazipro or general cure) just to be safe.

I did get CP via script. The odd thing was after 10-12 days the QT started growing algae. Since it’s an algaecide I started to panic it was somehow neutralize. I did a 80-90% water change and redosed. Then a couple days later the clowns started to develop puffy eyes so I did 100% watch change gave it a few days and started the copper which I found easier to validate.

If you think my CP is ok I can retreat after I clear the copper out

Sorry I didn't read far enough back in the thread so I missed that part.

How long have the fish been in therapuetic copper?

It's a possibility, but if brook is at play here, copper does not cover that.

I still suspect brook, now that I am fully up to speed with your situation.

Do you have a second sterile QT tank?
