I've read several times that wrasses can be sensitive to meds. I have had this fish in a qt for 4 weeks, he is actually one of the most active, quickly acclimated(to its new surroundings) fish I have ever QT'd. I usually hit all my fish with a prophylactic treatment just in case. What are the dangers of using prazi on a this fish? And do you guys have any pointers for dosing meds with this fish.

I tend to underdose slightly when using Prazipro on wrasses. Prazipro contains 2.5 mg/L praziquantel; whereas I have tested it at 2.0 mg/L and that dosage was still sufficient to eradicate flukes within 24 hrs.

I slightly underdose as well with prazi. I run it through our fish system at work every monday. I have about 20 flasher wrasses in there at one time and never had a problem with them.... they are also simultaneously in copper.
Thanks for the info, I haven't run anything else in the tank as I use it to qt everything I bring in. Is it common for the fish to be really active then become more reclusive. I kept a close eye on him the first couple or weeks and he was always out, but the last 2 weeks my schedule barely lets me get him feed. Now(last 3 days) he seems to really like to hide, could that be a sign of something I'm missing or just a result of his relative seclusion?

It depends on if there are any other symptoms accompanying it. Heavy breathing? Lack of appetite? Dirty/dusty appearance? Red sores or streaks?
Flasher/fairy wrasses are tricky because most seem very uncomfortable in a bare bottom, rockless QT. So they tend to hide a lot.
However, reclusive behavior can also be a behavioral symptom of disease - specifically, Marine Velvet Disease.
My carpenter wrasse, currently day 9 of TTM, had prazipro dosed 4 hours ago. Has become much less active since. Still eating, but lays at bottom of tank for the most part. Looks healthy, good coloration, normal breathing. Belly looks full. Can he be consitpated? Eating now but wasn't during the 24 hours of prazi. Any thoughts??
Lethargy is a common side effect of Prazipro, but that doesn't explain the full looking belly. Can you post a photo?
I'll try and get one tonight or tomorrow AM. Lights out in tank right now. It looked more decompressed today. It didn't look distended. He has been getting brine or mysis soaked in selcon or live black worms since TTM. He is definitely more active today after being out of prazi.
Well he looks fantastic this AM after 24hrs after prazipro.
Swimming around entire tank, checking every crevice, searching for food.
I'll be dosing Prazipro Thursday to Friday so we will see how that effects him again.

They will be in this 5.5 gallon tank for about 68 hours.
I need to dose prazi during this time.
I also see a little stringy poop from Wrasse. I've only seen it once and it may be the tail end of a normal one since I only have 20-30mins a day to actually observe them due to my schedule.
Here is my question:
I have Furan 2 and Kanaplex on-hand. Should I treat prophylactically for the stringy poop? Is this possibly bacterial?
If I should use an antibiotic, which day of the 3 should I dose it?
If I dose the antibiotic, I still need my second dose of prazipro for 24 hours which will be from Thursday night to Friday night.
Can I do this with antibiotic?
My concern is that by day 3 with feeding 3 fish, using prazi and also using an antibiotic I am going to skyrocket ammonia.
Anyone have some advice??

This should actually cover all your questions so here goes:
If the stringy poop in question is white then you would want to treat with metroplex as that means intestinal worms. Stringy brown poo happens and is pretty normal. Kanaplex isn't going to help, so you don't need to worry about it. In fact, if you need to treat for intestinal worms then I suggest feeding it to the fish so the metro gets directly to the worms in the gut. This shouldn't effect your water quality much at all but if it does, then simply do a water change on the tank. Prazi only needs 24 hours to do it's magic so anytime after that you can do water changes for ammonia.
I feel like I'm asking a lot, but my fish are going to go into a 20 gallon QT on Friday after finishing TTM.
This 20 gallon QT was a coral QT for about 4 months with NO FISH. It served to QT my corals and inverts before going into display so as to prevent ich cysts and a number of coral diseases from going into DT.
This tank has been running for about 3 weeks since I moved the last coral into my DT. It's been fish free for close to 5 months.
Is there anyway there are flukes, worms or fish parasites in there???
It is full of copepods and amphipods from the corals which would be great for the 2-3 weeks of QT for the mandarin.
I'd hate to break this down and sterilize it, but if it needs to be done I'll do it in order to not risk disease.

How long ago was the last coral added to the tank (even if it was removed already)?
Last addition to that tank was 2 emerald crabs and 4 blue leg hermits which spent 40 days there. They were moved out 3 weeks ago. There is a trochus snail in there now who has been there for 4 months.

I think you would be fine. The chances of anything surviving that long are pretty slim.
