I have a flame wrasse in QT right now. It seems to have a bacterial infection of its side. I have Kanaplex and Metroplex on hand. Do I use both at the same time or use kanaplex first (since it's a broad spectrum). Also he's been hiding since I got him and eats a few bite only. Do I start treatment now or wait till when he is eating better? Thanks.

If you suspect bacterial infection start immediately. Can you post a pic. Dose both metro and Kanaplex. Also get some Furan-2 and add it to the mix. This will give you the best shot if you don't have any NFG on hand.

Kanaplex alone is good. Kanaplex + Furan2, is the next step up. Kanaplex + Furan2 + Metro is the “trifecta” for really nasty bacterial infections. Hope this helps a bit.

Thanks guys. The dosing directions says to dose and repeat after 48 hrs. Do I do a water change in between dosing? thanks.

If you are dosing just the Kanaplex, no water change is necessary. But if you are dosing Kanaplex + Furan2 then yes. The nitrofuracine in the Furan2 tints the water and thus the need for the water change. The hot setup is to do the water change just before the dosing. Here's the dosing for the Trifecta:
Day 1: Use recommended dosage for Metroplex, KanaPlex & Furan-2
Day 2: Use recommended dosage for Furan-2 only
Day 3: 25% Water change and use recommended dosage for Metroplex, KanaPlex & Furan-2
Day 4: Use recommended dosage for Furan-2 only
Day 5: 25% Water change and use recommended dosage for Metroplex, KanaPlex & Furan-2

Repeat this twice for a total of 10 days minimum. 14 days if necessary.

Sad day. I've found my flame wrasse dead this morning. I've put him in RODI water to check for flukes. I noticed white bumps appears on the body after a few minutes in RODI. The white vesicles would come off from the body. What could this be? Ick? Velvet? Thanks...

I had the same issue, some fish in my tank seemed fine where a lot of newcomers were dying except for the super hardy ones. I lost anthias, emperor angel, etc. lots of cool stuff. But my other fish seemed fine, my anthia has its eye pop out. I’ve come to the conclusion now that it was more than likely flukes, that were able to latch onto the fish with weaker stress coats in the tank, this particular fluke species liked to go for the eyes of some of my fish too, which resulted in your situation of a bacterial infection from the wounds. I ended up treating my reef tank with prazi pro and kannaplex which for now is the only thing that has worked to not only heal up my fish’s eye but hopefully eradicate the parasites as well.
The flukes I was dealing with seemed to be prazi pro resistant. On my first treatment I followed the instructions on the bottle and added kanaplex and the problem temporarily went away for like a few weeks, this time seems to have worked better, I added a little more than recommended dosage and did it every 3 days 3 times instead of 2.

When you say you added a little more then the recommended dose was you referring to the prazipro or kanaplex bud
