I got a used trickle filter & have a lifereef 600 g overflow I am trying to figure out how to set this up the lifereef has a 1" hose barb connector with a slip on end easy enough until I get to the trickle filter it has 3 sections the first section is where the filter sock goes it has a 1 1/2" pvc union & it fits up to a bushing (?) the second section is the trickle it has the same type fitting only 1" then last section is for the return it has a 1" fitting then connects to 1 1/2" pvc up to inside the internal overflow & out a 3/4" lock line
the trickle filter was hard plumbed to a tank I can't use the original tank (drilled) because it arrived with the side broken I am trying to reconfigure it so I can use it on my non drilled 95g I already had the lifereef overflow just never used it also has a dart sequence pump the lifereef hose barb unscrews so can be replaced if needed as can any of the plumbing except the fittings on the trickle filter they are glued in place.
ok hopefully you have understood the above so here are my questions
the water comes from the overflow box then has to t off somehow to the filter sock section & the trickle part section can you connect soft tubing to hard pvc? should I simply replace the slip on fitting & use all hard pvc? is it ok to hard plumb a overflow? what size pipe should I use? how to control flow to each side? on the return it has a 1" fitting but then connects to 1 1/2" grey pipe (is grey ok?) then went up the internal overflow then out the 3/4" lock line can't use that so what is a good way to do my return my tank is eurobraced and does the pipe really need to be 1 1/2" cause its huge!
confused? I sure am but hope someone here can tell me what I need to do here
