I’ve been running my Trident for about 9 months now, got one of the early releases. Mostly with great success in the beginning, however recently my Alk and CA testing is off. I calibrate every time I change reagents, and tests perfectly with calibration solution, then once tank tests begin, I’m off by up to 30%, any thoughts?
My trident is in my cabinet, heard rumors of potential issues with this configuration, but not certain.
Appreciate any input.

Give us your parameters from the trident, and also which test kits and parameters your getting with them?

And, Welcome to R2R!

Thanks for the response Jose, I also live in Matthews and just requested to join RASOC, great to meet you.
Trident parameters:
Alk=6.16
CA=404
MG=1278

Manual tests with RedSea Pro kits:
Alk=8.4
CA=450
MG=1250

Trident was in line with manual kits for many months, then noticed an issues with LPS corals and discovered trident was reading 8.4 on alk and manual was 10.8. I have now balanced the levels accurately, but using manual tests. Trident is consistently off.

When I run calibration with the Trident calibration solution, it aligns properly with calibration solution.

I also use RedSea Salt and change about 25% every two weeks. Currently running a Mixed reef with substrate.

Hopefully we can meet in person when we get to stat having meetings again.

I'd contact Neptune support since you do have an earlier model of the Trident to see if there is something wrong with your unit. Hopefully it will be something they will be able to fix for you quick, but I've heard that most of the time you will have to send the unit in to get repaired.

FWIW, I have been seeing something similar. Early trident here too. Usually, trident is about 0.4 dkh below my hanna/API kits. Recently, however, it has been much higher. Currently trident is showing 9.5 dkh versus hanna/API closer to 7.5 dkh. There were discussions early on about trident needing an annual health check … then mostly crickets. I wonder if staining within the testing unit becomes a problem (though I would think calibration would adjust in part for this).

Yes, sounds similar, I was wondering some of the same thoughts. Is your trident in your cabinet? My LFS spoke with Neptune prior to them closing and wondered if carbon monoxide build up in cabinets could effect readings, I might try moving my trident outside of cabinet, although that is not preferred.
I believe original plan was a 18 month cycle of sending trident back to Neptune for cleaning/calibration, but also have heard nothing further readout this.
Thanks for your input, would be great to figure this out.
