It was finally time to replace all the reagents in my trident and this was the first time replacing all at once so upon opening the box there was a paper that said there was a new way to replace the reagents and to calibrate. I followed the instructions to a tee and after the calibration was done it read exactly what was on the calibration bottle, so i decided to check the bottle with combination test. The alk was close but the ca was 667 from 415 and the mag was 1230 from 1340 on the bottle. So i decided to test the tank water and got pretty much the same results. Did 3 more tests over the next couple hours with about the same readings. Before i put the new reagents in my parameters were alk 8.08 ca 447 and mg 1534. So i decided to calibrate it with the way i did when it was new, instead of using the task manager i used the trident drop down menu, primed the sample and then ran the calibration. All numbers came back as to what was on the bottle of calibration fluid. So i decided to test the bottle and it came back perfect. So i put the hose back in the sump primed the line and tested all again with pretty much my old readings coming up not the high ca and low mg. I did check the reading with my hanna checker for alk which was very close and sailfert for ca and mg and got close readings also. My question is why was the ca and mg way off doing it the new way to calibrate using the task bar, has anyone else had this problem. The only difference i see is they dont tell you to prime the line with the sample.

Bump, any trident folk tonight?

Another question i have is they say don't use the reagents that are left in the bottle after replacing them because you dont want to contaminate the new reagent, well i had about a half bottle of alk left and you will contaminate the new reagent when you put the old cap with the tube that goes down into sample that was just taken out of the bottle half full of the old reagent. Why would it matter using the old reagent with the new one?
