i have 2 questions to ask so just got my hands on another trident is it a must have i hear that you can have control dosing for all 3 elements my second question would be most reefers dont dose mag or even test for it as much as alk and cal so do i really need to have 3 dosing pumps for the controlled dosing

Depending on your system my weekly water changes keep my mag good. I just installed a trident two weeks ago and so far it is very nice! I test it weekly with my Hanna Alk and it’s only 0.02 off of it. Though I do not have it linked with a dose for automatic dosing I do dose kalk with a brs doser having the trident is nice to see my Alk tested four times a day. I can easily adjust my kalk with my doser I’d say it’s pretty decent so far!

Trident/DOS combo is amazing. I use Seachem Reef Fusion 1/2, which part 1
Is Cal and Mag both. I may occasionally add some more Mag manually but it seems to keep it at approximately 1330 in my tank without adding more separate. With RF you only need the 2 dosers. It’s not as cheap as BRS stuff but everything in my tank likes it.

Only issue most people have had lately is the reagent being only available in 2 month and not 6 due to COVID shortages. Otherwise everything else seems smooth.

Yes, if you interact with your tank regularly I wouldn’t worry about more (ie not someone relying on full automation while leaving the tank for long periods unattended). Plus, you can always add one down the road if you find something else you want to dose also. All depends on how you want to run your tank.

I run one for dosing and one for AWC. Tank is cruising!

i thought one needed to dose all 3 equal parts to keep parameters in check
Depending on your salt mix and your frequency of water changes, most don't even have to dose Mg. I add a bit to my water change water and that is it. The DOS only controls ALK and Ca.

depending on my nutrients i would do twice a month but so far they are not high so doing a 30 gallon water change once a month
