Trident Users is it a nice tool to have?

My big concern is what will happen when early adopters approach their first year maintenance overhaul anniversary. I recall somewhere in one of the Trident FAQ threads Neptune saying that users will have to send their units in for the annual overhaul. I think their was passing mention of maybe a self service kit, but that was never touched upon again. Since the pandemic, I don’t believe Neptune has done any warranty or repair service in months. What will happen, if anything, when Trident owners reach their overhaul maintence dates? Seeing how this plays out will determine if I will add a Trident to my system or not.

It’s essential gear for me. It’s not exactly set it and forget it all the time, but you will learn to work with it when it gets off track. Once it’s on track, it’s fantastic.

I thought the reagent would only last about 6 weeks instead of 2 months if you didn’t get the guides. Is that not your experience?

No, honestly it isn't. It sounds like some people are finding they help but I have not had the need. I do think they are a nice addition honestly. I have had a couple issues with my Trident both I believe due to me being lazy and a dirty sump. The first issue was a line on the manifold pop'd off. We think it was due to a blocked sample line. Easy fix after contacting Neptune support. They walked me through it. Second issue was again related to the sump and the sample line blocked. I was using a marine pure block and it started to fall apart. I had the sample line too close and some debris was pulled in the line. This happened just before the line falling off the manifold. Another call into Neptune and they thought it might be blocked, told me want to do to troubleshoot, and that was it.

Other than that it is running pretty good. Do I think I get exact 2 months out of the reagents? No, probably not. I have honestly not wrote down start and stop date. I should, but I haven't. I did send in a note to Neptune to suggest they add a note or log entry automatically as part of the reagent swap task. Might be helpful if we need the data later.

Is the trident nice to have?

Yes it is. Been running mine almost since day 1 (16 months, give or take). Just understand its limitations and you'll enjoy having one.

At the risk of seeming a tad OCD, I have kept notes since day 1 …. and have saved any leftover reagent because ….. well, just because. The two month kits last me, on average over the 16 months I've had it, around 7 1/2 weeks. So, not quite 2 months but close enough. Over that same period, I have 2 1/2 bottles of leftover A and slightly more than a bottle each of leftover B and C. I have no plans to use them unless I cannot source new kits.

I am about ready to replace reagent B and C so will keep notes. Clearly I'm lacking on the note taking part Out of curiosity I'll measure how much is left in the bottles.

4/2/2 chez Simon also. Only manual tests are the ones as part of the revised calibration procedure.

Mine will be here today! Cant wait to get it running. Im leaving for a long weekend so ill set it up and calibrate when i return early next week. It will be interesting to track my alk while im away. Even if its slightly off, its better than just leaving and hoping for the best!

This thing is AWESOME! I threw it on the tank as soon as i got it because im leaving on a trip tomo. Just be patient with it!

Neptune stated that they planned for the maintenance as they thought some components would need to be replaced or serviced but they have found out that it hasn't been the case. They haven't even called in any units for the service. They are also working on a DIY so we don't have to ship the tridents off.
