The shape of them looks like sand to me. You will know for sure by tonight; if they are still there then it's not sand stuck to the mucous coat.
I see those spots, I cannot tell if ich or velvet -- how quickly did those appear? (Over the course of a week slowly increasing in number or seemingly overnight)
Any other symptoms? (Swimming in to powerheads, flashing, scratching, hiding from light, heavy breathing, etc)
Also, when was the last time you added something wet to the tank? Last fish that was not treated for 30 days in thereapeitic level copper or CP in quarantine?
Also he was the last fished added to the tank, and was QT with cupramineI see those spots, I cannot tell if ich or velvet -- how quickly did those appear? (Over the course of a week slowly increasing in number or seemingly overnight)

Agree, this concerns me as wellI can't tell from the video, but is he breathing rapidly? Also, it does concern me that he is hanging so close to the flow of your powerhead (velvet).
Ok all...I checked on him again and what ever was there is now all gone. He has some scratches on his side but other than that the white material is gone. Should I move him to QT again for another 30 days or watch to see if the white comes back? Thanks again for all of the advice!
X2I would wait & see for now.
can fish have dry, flaky skin?
No idea what is was...he was rubbing a bit, but other than that acting totally normal for him...he was by the WAVs but he usually is since the large purple tang keeps his distance....no idea what it was...did not have the clearing like I have seen with ich before...lost a clown in QT to brook and it looked nothing like that....maybe it was just some sand that was in his slim layer and was bothering him....time will tellI saw some of that white stuff start to fall off in the video. Here's a dumb question, but can fish have dry, flaky skin?
