Calling on all Trigger Experts:

I’ve never had a trigger before today...the sargassum pictured below arrived this morning. I noticed what looks like a laceration on its side with some kind of scar tissue at the end of it. Please see pics below. It acclimated beautifully, and it just finished eating like an absolute pig in my qt (50 gallon). I always start new arrivals at a 1.0 level of copper (copper power). SG is at 1.020 to match L.A. I’m wondering if I should follow my normal protocol (Prazi - Therapeutic Copper - Metro) or if I should start antibiotics? Any advice would be appreciated. TIA.

I added some pictures from this afternoon. Behaviorally, he’s still ok and eating well. It almost looks like something is protruding from his side.
Any experience with something like this?

It looks like an injury that is healing. I’d just keep an eye on it and proceed as normal. If it turns red or grows, you can treat for infection. I think it’ll be fine. Nice fish! :)

Thank you! I’ve been planning to get one of these for a long time.
I appreciate the advice. I just had some ruby reef rally delivered today, but I’ll hold off for now and keep an eye on it.

If needed later — Since you have other meds in the water, a bath with an antibiotic named cipero for 2 hours each day would be my choice instead of mixing meds. It’s often as effective, if not more.

Sounds good - thanks again.
