Has anyone tune their single drain Trigger sump into a dual drain? Currently I have a single drain line coming down to stock sump. I might be purchasing a drilled tank with bean drain setup of the same size to hopefully eliminate the gurgling noise. Has anyone made this type of modification?

I have a Trigger Sapphire 26 with a Bean Animal setup.

The primary has a gate vale goes to the filter sock. The secondary connects to the tube that was already there. I have very little water flowing through the secondary so I'm not concerned about bypassing the filter sock. The emergency drain goes into the refugium section. It's elevated above the water level so I would definitely hear if it was being used.

Hope this helps.

Thanks. Is the sock hard to change? I was thinking of drilling a second drain hole next to original drain.

Changing the sock is easy. My drain pipe slides off at the elbow, which allows me to reach in a change it.

I'm very intrigued by the idea of adding a roller mat, but that would take a bit of modification. I like the idea because, while it is easy to change the sock, sometimes I travel for work & I have to go a couple days longer than I'd like before changing it.

I had a trigger cube sump for a 30"H x 24"W x 24" display tank which I modified to support a second drain for a Bean Animal style overflow.

After changing socks on a near daily basis for 1.5 years, I found the effort was just too much with such little space in the cabinet. I swapped out the sump and installed a new one to accommodate a ClariSea 3000 rollermat filter.

I will NEVER go back to socks again as the rollermat is real time saver.

EDIT: The drain is COMPLETELY SILENT....the only time I hear anything is when my ATO kicks on to trickle in some top off water.
