I have been offered a tideline sump but I run a bean animal overflow.

My question is how does this work with a pre-fab sump? The drains need to be submerged about 1" into the water. Also I am currently hard plumbed with 1.5" pvc, and since the drains are on the left side of the sump, I guess I would have to cut the pvc and run vinyl tubing to the prefab drain fittings, right?

All 3 tidlines (TIDE30, 36, 48) have 3 drains, they also come with drain tubes that you can cut to sit 1" under that water line. Yes you would have to cut and re-run the drains accordingly.

Specs 30:
Dimensions: 30″ long x 16″ wide x 15″ high
Skimmer Section: 8″ x 11″
Center/Refugium Section: 9.5″ x 14.5″
Return Pump Section: 6″ x 14.5″
Total Water Volume: 29.2 gallons
Skimmer Water Level: 7″ to 9.5″ adjustable
Drain Input Fittings: three 1″
Filter Socks: 1 (7″)

Specs 36:
Dimensions: 36″ long x 18″ wide x 15″ high
Skimmer Section: 10.5″ x 17.5″
Center/Refugium Section: 8″ x 17.5″
Return Pump Section: 6″ x 17.5″
Total Water Volume: 41.7 gallons
Skimmer Water Level: 7″ to 9.5″ adjustable
Drain Input Fittings: three 1″
Filter Socks: 2 (7″)

Specs 48:
Dimensions: 48″ long x 20″ wide x 16″ high
Skimmer Section: 14″ x 19.5″
Center/Refugium Section: 14.5″ x 19.5″
Return Pump Section: 8″ x 19.5″
Total Water Volume: 64 gallons
Skimmer Water Level: 7″ to 9.5″ adjustable
Drain Input Fittings: two 1.5″, one 1″
Filter Socks: 2 (7″)

As long as you have two inlets you should be able to work with it just fine. Attach the two non-emergency lines to the sump at the bulkheads. Run the emergency line anywhere you'd like. I previously liked the emergency line to be above the water line so if there was a problem I could hear the line splashing a little bit under the tank.

You will need new PVC for the job or you can run mostly vinyl tubing from your current setup. Pictures would help us help you figure it all out.

Right now on my current sump, the drains are on the right side of the sump.

Pvc would be cleaner. But more difficult with the tank already setup. Would also add more bends to the drain lines.

Vinyl would have less friction, and easier to manage. I could leave my emergency where it is, because it is above the water.

One reason I am considering it's the price...free.

IMHO Trigger Systems makes excellent sump, the build quality is top-notch, and free is always better!

I own a Ruby36E going on 6yrs and no issue!

That's a picture of my current sump setup. Far right is the main siphon. Next is the open and the emergency on the far left

This would be an option for you...

One issue that I am seeing is, he has a tide 36, which has 1" drains. My drain tubing is 1.5". I would have to get some sort of reducer.

Wouldn't the ridging in the pipe cause noise?

Your setup is simple enough and looks pretty tight already. I would honestly buy 3 plugs, temporarily block your drains to the sump, and redo all the hard lines entirely. This way they would all be thought out and tucked away instead of constantly having to move around the flex tubing. The cost will be menial comparatively.

Why would OP be "constantly" moving the tubing?

Seems like from their photo there is not much height in the cabinet to begin with. Depending on where they add on the flex tubing I feel like it would really get in the way of equipment. If they hard plumbed directly to the top of the cabinet and then straight down it seems like it would be a much cleaner look and much more out of the way of equipment.

Ultimately it is what I would do as flex tubing tends to be an eyesore to me but it's all personal preference in the end.

I have about 10-12" from the top of the sump to the base of the top.

What I could do is cut above the 45, reattach a 45, an adapter and then run the flex tubing to the sump. Only do this for the main and open.

Not sure how I am going to set it up. I told my friend I will take it but if he can sell it, to do so.
