Triggerfish swollen eye

Hello @4FordFamily ,the eye is pretty much the same as it was,its pretty swollen but you cant tell as much until you see him head on. But definitely hasnt got any worse, as i said,he doesnt really appear distressed or anything, just very shy, thanks

Hello,so the male trigger is still not eating. I tried live brine today,no interest at all. I put some live larger shrimp in and the female attacked them all but the male might have eaten a discarded half of one but im not 100%. His eye looks pretty much the same,no worse but i dont think any better. He still doesnt appear to be in any distress but just sits in his pipe fitting all the time. They are due the second round of Prazi this weekend. Do i go ahead with it? Not really sure what to do next, thanks

Hello @Big G,no we cant get that here, his eye is pretty swollen and he wont eat anything. They are due their second dose of Prazi this weekend,do i still carry on with that? I have Furan 2,Metroplex and Kanaplex. Is it safe to do a full course of these and Prazi at the same time? Im pretty worried about him not eating, its a week tomorrow but im also worried that if i dont try and do something about his eye that he may lose it. As far as food goes, ive tried frozen brine, mysis, cockle, also, flake, pellets and live brine and live shrimps,no interest. The only thing hes definitely ate in a week is one piece of flake, im lost at what to do next, any ideas @HotRocks ,@4FordFamily ,@Humblefish ?

Are you able to obtain Sulfaplex aka Triple Sulfa? It's not my first choice but does work with Popeye.

Since it’s been a week since it ate I would remove all the meds and see if it starts eating, it can only last so long without eating and you never know if he starts eating the nutrients from the food might actually heal the eye. A fish blind in 1 eye is better than a dead fish.

Hello @HB AL, the only meds ive used is Prazi a week ago, im going to do a water change today and see what happens. I thought if the Prazi was supressing his appetite that it would have stopped by now anyhow but im willing to try, really dont want to lose such a nice fish without it ever eating, thanks

Prazi loses it effectiveness after 48 hours or so but the oxibupsonal (spelling?) which is what depletes the O2 does remain longer. You only need to do a 25% or so WC if you want to try that.

Hello @Frtdrmrose7 , he has just left his pvc pipe fitting for the first time that ive seen in nearly a week. He swam round and round the tank close to the bottom and looked as though he was trying to rub the eye on the glass as if its really irritating him. Hes now gone back in his tube but the eye is definitely affecting him

Bottom line is if it continues to not eat it will die that is 100% guaranteed. Get it in some nice prestine non medicated water, maybe go buy some live rocks, give it a more natural environment and it’s possible it starts eating, atleast that’s what I would do asap.
