I'd like to get a sinularia finger leather coral. I know it can release some nasty toxins. I know encroaching corals can trigger it to release toxins, but is there anything else that would trigger it? Thank you.

Environmental stressors. Temp, water parameters swings. Pests and disease.

No. They can upset other corals though. The key to a mixed reef is the same for any tank, stable water parameters and spacing between soft corals.

Occasionally running GAC helps.

How often do you run carbon? If carbon is never ran, will the toxins always be in the water column, or will the protein skimmer or UV take care of some of it? Also do you know if purigen takes out some of those toxins? Sorry for the bombardment of questions.
