So about 2 months ago I bought a second hand 350 with the dream of turning it into a marine tank progress is slow as being a chef and working long hours only get a day a week to build but I thought I'd start this post an keep it going hopefully through till completion kind of as a dairy as well as to let you guys put in feed back an pointers where I may be going wrong

so this was the advert for the tank managed to get it for £250 so for a 350l tank I thought it wasn't too bad. Bought it an agent with a man and a van to collect it. (Was heavier than I thought lol)

I thought long and hard probably for about a week about risking drilling the tank. Top, bottom, do I go for the hob, herbie etc.
Well I took the plunge after contacting jewel and they said the bottom wasn't tempered and that was my preferred placement. So nervously I mapped out my holes an started drilling [emoji85].
After the first it was much more relaxed and didn't think it was too bad.
So finally cut the three stand pipes and got them dry fitted

Drilling a tank is up there with skydiving in my list of scary things I'd like to try [emoji4] congrats!

So hears the next stages I've painted the back and siliconed the glass to cover the stand pipes and sorted a comb on the top of the glass to.

Hope I'm not boring you all don't seem to be getting much of a reply on here.

Not at all, just so much information with all the threads...so little brain cells to process! Ha ha
Looking good! You've got to be excited! Enjoy the build, it's one of the parts of reefing I love the most!

Thanks dude. I'm trying to upload in chronological order as it's nearly ready to do a run test. Next post will be the sump

Did a little research an this is the widest sump I can have in my cabinet ( down side to a corner tank) 55l max water line. So worked out the baffles and bubble trap etc.

Did a water test when all was dry and all the baffles kept the correct water lines so in the cabinet it went.

As you can see also done a manifold I'll go into what they are all going to be for in the next post tomorrow

Nice!
You've got the beginnings of a clean build!
My wife would like that same tank in the corner of our bedroom.
I look forward to seeing more, following.

I'm a little bit of a OCD freak which seems to a good thing in the reefing [emoji289] lol. Total volume will be about 400L operating could probably push it to 450 but will stick with 450L. Had a power cut at the moment so wide awake listening to street alarms. So might as well post a couple more pics now.

So now I've got all the drain lines solvent in here. Filter sock fitted into place ( will be 2 eventually) hang on skimmer and uv taken off the main line before the manifold. This is the high water line durning a power outage and the pump working on slowest speed and on the fastest setting.

You will notice a overflow drilled into the side of the sump you'll see more detailed pics on this later on

My acrylic pipe cove came after a 2 week wait for delivery. So I quickly got to a drilling and siliconing it into place. Also siliconed in 2 filter combs so it pulls water from the bottom of the tank as well as the top.

(Ignore the mug gotta have a coffee why working when I get home from work (23:30))

Hi. I also have a trigon 350. Swapped from freshwater to marine a few months back. I didn't have the confidence to drill tank and put in a sump so I'm using a canister filter and a internal skimmer which I have placed in the old bioflow bow and have a 3kdc feeding it from underneath the box. I have a quick question though under my tank in the cabinet there is a sheet of wood that slpits each press, is this not a support or have you braced yours with something. I've been wanting to take it out a while now as space is pretty confined but once again was afraid as I didn't want a floor full of fishys.

Welcome to R2R. You’ve done a great build job. Lots of knowledgeable and helpful people here who will support and advise you when needed.
