Trim Overlap - In Wall Tank Aesthetics

For an in wall tank with trim around it, If I fill my tank leaving 2 inches between the top and the water, what will look better:

Trim come down 1 inch so you can see the water line just below the trim

Trim come down 2.5 inches so you cannot see the water line

Opinions Please :cool:

My experience:
I have a canopy that covers TO the waterline and when I turn the return pump off for feeding, the water level drops about an inch.
In my situation, the lights reflect off the surface of the water and beams out through that 1inch gap in a very annoying way.
