Hi, I think I have just bought a Tripodichthys oxycephalus and from the little research I did prior and that done by the lfs, it hopefully won't turn out to be a monster or overly difficult. Anyone have any experience with these? Safeness, size etc? I'll try and post a pic later to see if someone can confirm the I'd.

They are pretty mellow, but I have only had them in fowlr tanks, so can't speak to safeness, but would imagine they are mostly safe, only taking bites out of fleshy lps and clam mantles.

Thanks TJ, there seems to be a distinct lack of info online about them so can you give your experience on eventual size and boldness. Don't mind if it is shy, just want to put it with appropriate tankmates. Will be with some allens damsel to begin with to grow out.

It was ignored by tangs, angels, hogfish, and other filefish.

It wasn't shy like some of the more camouflaged file species either.

Thanks again. I've attached a pic of the little guy still in the bag. Is it good enough for a conformation id?
