I am switching to triton method and I am attempting to figure out long term costs. I noticed that it comes pre mixed or powder form. The powder form says to mix it each powder with 9l of rodi water. That's 9000ml. I dose 25ml of brs 2 part currently. I heard to start with 1/4 of my regular does with triton. That is 6 to 7 ml a day. With that dose and that much made from the bulk order I will have supplements for 3.5 years for only $75 In Triton supplements. Is that correct? Am I missing something? That seems cheaper than BRS 2 part.

I guess I'm mainly confused because the 1000ml pre mixed liquid is $52 and 9000ml of powder is $72. Does triton value rodi water that much?

Powder triton cost $72 and mixes with 9l of rodi.
$72 ÷ 9000ml = $0.008/ml of powder

Pre mixed 1000ml triton costs $52
$0.008 × 1000ml = $8.
$52 - $8 = $44.

They are charging $44 for the rodi water.

I feel like I'm missing something.

You might want to check out this thread to help with cost comparison: https://www.reef2reef.com/threads/very-simple-basic-cost-comparison-vs-water-changes-dosing.324882/

Looks like a slight cost savings for me, even after the cost of testing is factored in. Not bad for simplified maintenance, and what I perceive to be a well documented and proven system. I have 600 gallons, and doing an 18% water change takes two rounds with my 55 gallon mixing barrel. Not lugging 3,000 lb boxes of salt down to the basement will be nice (the last one always feels like it weighs 3,000 pounds).
