Hello guys,

I'm using triton now more than a year. Generally very satisfied, I only suffered from my phosphate value. Now I am thinking of keeping phosphate and nitrate almost immeasurable like ulns. Aquaforest uses products to add amino, vitality and build to feed your corals. Could these products also be used with triton or is there anything specific that you need to add?

Welcome to Reef 2 Reef.

I have never used the Triton method or those AF products.
I do dose Red Sea "Reef Energy" and my corals are happy.

Bulk Reef Supply is carrying the Triton product line. Maybe you can give them a call and follow their lead.

Regards, GoVols

If you keep ULNS, along with Triton or any other "method" you may need to add supplements that contain N and P, such as extra organic foods, amino acids, etc., to keep the corals from suffering from "starvation".

Which products should you use in my case? (Brand and product please)

I don't have brands I recommend, but dosing amino acids (use hobby mixes in most cases) and/or food grades of sodium phosphate, sodium nitrate, and potassium phosphate or nitrate are all fine. :)

Will adding amino acids adjust nitrates and phosphates? Im currently running the KZ Coral Program on my 220 but have 0 Nitrates and .09 Phospahtes. I just ordered Sodium Nitrate to boost them up to 2-5ppm but also have a whole liter of Fuel Amino Acids on hand. Was curious to know if dosing just the AA would also effect my phosphate levels as well?

This is what I get from the Aqua Vitro Fuel AA listing. Would this be the same as far as nitrogen as using Seachem's Flourish Nitrogen?

I cannot gauge the purity from that. That is just a list of ingredients.

The concern is that some companies may formulate an amino acid from hydrolyzed protein (which often has phosphate in it), rather than purified amino acids, but that does not look to be the case here, since they only list 4 amino acids, so I would expect little phosphate in it. :)

Thank you Randy that's good to know. I know 1 of the 4 parts of the KZ Coral Program adds amino acids so I'll just stick to that. I also have sodium nitrate coming in so I'll utilize that to get my nitrates up safely without altering my phosphates.
