I don’t think so. I am not very consistent on changing the carbon, so I am pretty sure it’s fully saturated most of the time.
The Triton method is designed to be run with a refugium/algea reactor. If you don’t use them, it’s best to use the Triton “Other method” base elements.
I have friends who run Triton too, and they experience the same thing with the trace elements mentioned above.
To be honest, I think we are more talking about what do you expect from a method and what do you believe in with regards to trace elements.
For me this Triton method is something I can do very consistently. My corals show great health and colour, I have about 2 dkh a day of consumption, and my ph stays between 8.3-8.5.
To me it makes sense, that every tank is different (based on type of corals) and therefore consumes a elements a tiny bit differently. Once you reach high consumption levels like I do, it is only logical that you will start to see difference in the elements. To me, a monthly dosage of 1 ml of zinc, is nothing compared to the 660ml of magnesium that is consumped every month. I am pretty sure that if people have low kh consumption and use other methods, they probably don’t even notice the fractional difference in these type of elements. In most cases occatoinal water changes will correct for this (my last waterchange was 1,5 years ago)
