I'm just setting up the refurbished tank to Triton spec's and have a query with regard to flow.

I have a RedSea Reefer 350 tank with a Synergy Triton sump.

I have an Octo Vaios 8 pump and using it to feed the return via a manifold that has a chiller, and 2 reactors attached ( ROWA and carbon). The return to the tank via Neptune FMK is at 1900 litres an hour and the display volume after rocks removed from the equation is 240 litres.

According to Triton I need 10x display volume as flow. I have around 7.9x . Will that be OK? or a little too far short?
(Even at that rate it is pumping some serious water!! )

The only other way I can think of is to run another pump purely for the manifold, but I don't really want another pump in the sump, is cramped as it is .....

Still too early to tell how i'll fair but I'm running a Triton system with only 4-5x turnover of the display volume. To compensate for lower return flow I have power heads in each of my sump chambers (3 total) along with 2 MP 40s and 2 gyres in my display. I hoping this additional non-circulatory flow will compensate. So far so good.

I think you will be fine with that !

Iv been running Triton for over a year now in a red sea 350 and I'll class it as a success.
I take no notice of the volume of flow
Iv just got cheato packed into my sump with a small power head right under were I dose
The power head is just to mix the 3a and 3b as it hits the water otherwise I find some of it sit in the cheato
I'm currently dosing 44 ml of each a day

I keep it very simple and it works just fine
I don't even run the AL99 anymore and no filter socks and my ALK sits around 7.6 dkh

I would say those thanks look pretty amazing... well-done guys! Hope mine is half as good

I will stick with the flow I have then, it's certainly the most flow I have seen in my tank ever! The flow meter on the return line is pretty amazing and a nice insight into a major parameter. I thought I had a high flow before....nope !
