I saw, and then lost, a reference to artificial sea salts recommended by the Triton Method folks. Please advise!

Tropic Marin is the only salt they currently recommend.
They recommend using their Pure 2.0 to help decrease trace elements in your tank.

So tropic marine is wAt they recommend?

I don't generally follow what particular manufacturers recommend about other products. Sorry. It should be easy to google.

IMO, the nature of the salt mix is not very important for any reef, but if you are going to try to strongly control many different ions in the water (e.g., zinc, vanadium, etc.), then starting with one that doesn't have excess of those ions already in it makes sense. That said, I have not seen enough recent data on salt mixes to say which are best in that regard.
