Tested calcium for the first time this morning and got a really low reading of 290 using Red Sea foundation pro kit. I have not dosed any of the triton 1,2,3a,or 3b yet as I am still waiting for my alk to drop. Reading this morning was 8.4 on alk. Salt I am using is Brightwell Aquatics NĒoMarine. Just wondering if I should dose some BRS 2 part to get Ca up or dose triton? Also going to mix up a batch of fresh salt and see what it is testing at.

According to Brightwell, NeoMarine mixes up to 290 Calcium. So it sounds like everything is right where it's suppose to be for the salt you are using in that regard.

EDIT - Sorry; read the Brightwell site wrong. Ca should be ~413:
  • Average Mg, Ca, K, and Sr concentrations of 1,290-, 413-, 399-, and 8 ppm, respectively
(You can see how the extra comma confused me there...)

If you've not already done so, I would run your test at least two more times and check the results. Pay special attention to the mixing directions; Red Sea tests can swing if you don't wait the proper times provided (both long and short can have issues).

@DLHDesign my bucket says 413ppm

It sounds like you are still cycling the tank? If so, I wouldn't suggest chasing any of the parameters you'll eventually be concerned with. Ammonia first, then nitrates and nitrites. Only once all of those have been sorted out would you want to start testing (or dosing) anything else.

I just made a batch of this brightwell salt...calcium was at 300 at 1.026 and 8.7 dkh.

Will be shooting a call to brightwell because I tested it 3x. 2 with RS, 1 with salifert. All 300-310.

Just made a batch of 15g. At 1.026, dkh of 8.7, calcium 300, mag of 1400.

Will be shooting brightwell a call. Tested 3x. 2 with Red Sea, 1 with salifert. 300, 310, 300

Let me know what they say. When i had my bucket like that i called and emailed and got no response. Do you know if brightwell puts lot/ batch numbers on their buckets like red sea? would be interesting to know how far apart those buckets were. If you don't mind saying, who did you order from?

Amazon. Not sure if the vendor

So doing a water change today and thought I would test the mixed water. Let it mix for about 29 hours @ 1.026. Almost brand new bucket that I made sure to mix up before using Incase of any stratification. Alk tested 3 times on Hanna with unexpired reagents and got 6.8. Calcium again tested 3 times with Red Sea foundation pro kit, good reagents and am getting 330 to 340. Im about sick of this. 2 buckets in a row now with low readings. Brightwell please don’t make me switch salt. Does anyone know if brightwell is on reef2reef?

i just contacted Brightwell, they explained that there should be no mixing up of the bucket needed. I have to give them the lot number but I am not at home. They are going to send me another bucket.
