Triton method says you shouldnt have sand in the fuge. Can anyone elaborate on that? I've always that you want a deeper sand bed for more surface area and more pod growth. I really want to grow as many pods as possible because I love mandarins, coris wrasse, ruby red dragonets, etc. This is a 90G with a 45G fuge not counting rest of the sump.

The fuge is just there for the algae to absorb nitrates and phosphates. Triton method is very much centered around the chemistry of the tank not the microfauna. A deep sand bed in the fuge can be a nutrient sink so it isn't part of the method.
