I am planning a 375 gallon (96x30x30) tank build. I want to set this up this tank using the Triton Method. Based on this tank size, after adding 400-lbs of rock, 2-inch sand bed; I will have approximately 250 gallons of water in the tank. If my calculations are correct then I will be need a 40-50-gallon refugium in the sump. It appears that only way that I am going to find a sump with that large of a refugium is to have one custom built? Before that start on the journey of finding custom sump builder, any advice on the overall dimensions that I will need in the sump, the size of the other compartments and what other features I should ask for in the sump. Does anyone have a design for a Triton sump that will work; the sump will go under the tank?

Honestly, a custom sump builder should be able to figure this out for you easily. You would just have to figure out what features and where in the sump you want them plumbed.

I would start with a consult and tell them what you're looking to achieve.

Does anybody else have any solid advice to give that may help me on my quest? I joined this forum to get advice before I commit dollars and buy the wrong thing? As I said in my post, I don't know the features that I need in a sump. I have already spoken to a LFS owner, who bad mouthed everyone else and give me a price for a complete installation that approaches half a century, which was enough to make me walk away from reef tanks and buy the Porsche instead. Surely someone on this forum has had a good experience with custom sump builder.

This site is great - a lot of great information. This evening, I found this thread that provided a lot of information on custom sumps and was able to contact one the custom sump builders recommended. I got a price for custom sump that I am comfortable with by using a forum member's design as a starting point. See https://www.reef2reef.com/threads/looking-for-custom-sump-options.383392/
