Evening folks,

I'm currently running a reefer 750. I am considering going with the Triton method. Can you guys weigh in with pros and cons for this option?

Keep reefing my friends,

I went with the triton other method.

Difference between the 2 is triton carries more algae propagation materials in it over the other methods.

I’ve been using it for 6-7 months now. I like if for its simplicity. Keep kh dosed at 8. Don’t worry about checking cal or mag.

My tanks look good. Everything is healthy. My growth is not explosive on corals but I’m okay with that. Growth has been great on softies. Just prefer ease and stability for now with my work travel time.

i am so far quite happy running Triton in my 110. Tanks about a year old now and more or less on cruise control.
Long term in a tank your size it may get costly once fully stocked. Id probably lean towards a calcium reactor at 150g +

you can still use a fuge for export purposes and dose iron/other metals as needed for the algae to thrive to yourself.

I was going to ask about the costs associated with this method.

I bought the 10,000 ml jugs, cost $379 shipped from brs if I remember correct. That was 10k of each 4 parts.

At my current coral load I’m at 10ml a day. That gives me about 3 years run time on it.

When I was coral heavy (clearing out for system redo) I was using 25ml a day which wouldn’t d give me a year and some change.

One of the reasons I went with other is I would have to change anything around in my sump to run it.

Not sure if costs on the full triton.

I am now 3 months into switching from Aqua Forest to Triton Core 7. While it think it will work long term the switch has been very painful. I have lost some SPS, LPS, and a large clam. I won't blame it all on the Triton switch. Some may be a result of timing between discontinuing other dosing products.
My #1 complain is the poor support from Triton staff. In some cases a week will go by before they reply to you.

This is where companies like Red Sea shine. I don't think Triton understand the investment we have in these systems, and it shows in their poor support model

I appreciate the info. I am considering it.

I'm running triton and have been since January of 2018 love it but my tank is sps dominant so I have to supplement alk and calcium. Just don't try to play mad scientist. If the element is in the a acceptable range let it get closer to the out of range mark after you get a base kinetic you'll see what elements you have to supplement them on a regular basis.
