Anyone trying to do the Triton method on a reefer 250? If so what is your setup/success? I know the fuge isn't quite large enough per Triton's recommendation. To maximize space I bought the small icecap k2-50 skimmer and placed it in the first chamber in the sump. It just fits and skims well there, a bit loud though. The main sump area is stripped of filter socks and is 100% chaeto. I have a Kessil H380 on the sump . I also bought a chaeto reactor to add about an extra ~gallon of fuge space. Things are going great so far but it has not been very log (~4 weeks). Nitrates are zero feeding about 1 cube a day and the chaeto is growing like crazy. The reactor turned out nice because I actually leave that on during the day and the fuge light on at night. In my mind that helps filter nitrates not just at night but 24/7. Oh and my return pump is super OP :)

I’ve been running Triton since September. Barely making it with heavy stocking and an undersized DIY fuge. I bought a used Reef dreams naffle shortly before a local company put out a RSR replacement sump
For Triton. It’s
Awesome’. If
You want to see it I’ll take
Pics
Tomorrow however I did switch to other methods and added a turf algae scrubber and maintained ok nutrient levels. It can be done with the original space but O would
Consider adding an algae reactor or scrubber or like I did consider a new
Sump.

I switched to ATI essentials because of the price.

Tank is doing well though. I am pretty lightly stocked (2 fire fish, 1 cardinal, 1 orchid) and I am a stingy feeder. The nitrates are always well under 10. That is probably why the smaller size fuge can handle the tank. The chaeto is absolutely out of control with the H380 though. The pics do absolutely no justice. I remove softball sized clumps pretty regularly. I also removed the chaeto reactor. It was doing great but it cracked and regular nitrate tests showed its removal had little to no impact on nitrates and phosphates.

Sorry for the bad pics, its all I have available right now. P.S - I am on a Sicce backup pump right now because my primary failed.
