Triton Sump Algae

Should I just leave my sump alone?
All the algae is floating on top. I put a rock on it but the algae is so thick it just holds the rock up out of the water.
Everything is fine with my display tank and the water chemistry is right on.
I think if it isn't brook don't fix it?
Does your sumps look like this too after 1.5 years?
I read sump algae die of is part of the processes.
There is no light getting into the bottom of the sump?

I kind of have that problem, not quite to your degree though. I manually stir mine once a week.

Although you say there is no light getting to the bottom can you see if there is still fresh growth down there?

There are two schools of thought really, one, just leave it be, however if you start seeing less efficiency then clean it out. Two, increase the surface flow by adding a powerhead pointed to the surface.

I myself have a small powerhead in mine to keep the surface clear, whereas Vince leaves his as is.

Both seem to work fine.
