I've just received my second Triton test results and the test has my calcium at 391mg/l. I tested calcium at the same time as taking the test with both Red Sea Calcium Pro and a NYOS calcium kit and both of those read 425/430mg/l.

The test I sent in March was similar - Triton=404, Red Sea=440.

What to believe? And how to adjust, if at all?

Alkalinity is 10dkh hence I was aiming for 420-430mg/l calcium.

Triton and Salifert were pretty close on the samples I took (456 vs 440). Hanna was 420 so a similar delta to what you've gotten with the RS and NYOS kits.

IMO, that's not a big difference and likely within the expected error for these different methods.

Fortunately, calcium is fine between about 380 and 550 ppm (regardless of your alkalinity value), so the exact value is not very important. :)

I had the same thing , testing 450 on salifert and Triton test said it's lower

Thanks Randy. I was following the chart of balanced KH/ca values in one of your articles ;)

Safer to lift it a bit so the average is closer to the middle? 390 makes me a bit nervous.

I let my lfs read my results and they gave me this to follow .....pic

These recommendations are available from the Triton website (click on the "Help" or "Dose" tabs at the top of your results).
